The 2007 Lowell Comedy Festival is accepting applications
for the festival that is to be held September 28th - 30th in Lowell, MA.
Who should apply?
The Lowell Comedy Festival will be open to all forms of comedic theater but a preference will be given to improvisation, sketch, and stand-up acts. Preference will be given to acts from the New England area but a major goal is to assemble a diverse roster of comedians from all over the continent.
Education will also be a major aspect of the Comedy Festival. We are interested in assembling a diverse curriculum that will address the various aspects of comedic theater including improvisation, sketch, and theater. We are looking for unique approaches to teaching that will benefit beginners, experienced players, or performers of all skill levels.
Application Details - SKETCH, IMPROV, THEATER and STAND-UP
The following will be needed to apply for the Lowell Comedy Festival as a live act.
- Registration Fee - There is a non-refundable submission fee of $25 per entry. Please make all checks or money orders out to the Cultural Organization of Lowell (COOL)
- A DVD, VHS tape or CD-ROM of your show.
- A press packet for your show, including:
- Any previous press (if available)
- One Cast photo
- A two- to three-paragraph description of the show.
- A two- to three-paragraph description of your cast
- Primary and secondary contact information for your ensemble, including primary phone, secondary phone, primary e-mail, secondary e-mail, and website URL
Acts selected to perform in the primary venues will be compensated. That rate is still being determined and will be disclosed as soon as it is finalized.
Application Details - SHORT FILM
The following will be needed to apply your short film for the Lowell Comedy Festival.
- Registration Fee - There is a non-refundable submission fee of $25 per entry. Please make all checks or money orders out to the Cultural Organization of Lowell (COOL). (fee is waived if also submitting as a live act)
- A DVD, VHS tape or CD-ROM of your film (1 - 20 minutes).
- A press packet for your film, including:
- Any previous press (if available)
- A two- to three-paragraph description of the film.
- A two- to three-paragraph description of your cast, crew
- Primary and secondary contact information for your film, including primary phone, secondary phone, primary e-mail, secondary e-mail, and website URL
Application Details - INSTRUCTOR
The following will be needed to apply your short film for the Lowell Comedy Festival.
- A Description of your class
- Area of study: Improv, Sketch, stand-up, or other. If other, please describe
- A two- to three-paragraph description of your experience.
- Primary and secondary contact information including primary phone, secondary phone, primary e-mail, secondary e-mail, and website URL
Instructors selected to teach will be compensated. That rate is still being determined and will be disclosed as soon as it is finalized.
Deadline For Submission
All submissions must arrive at the Lowell Comedy Festival office no later than 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24th, 2007. As soon as we receive your submission, we will send an acknowledgement to you via email.

Selected Acts will be notified by September 1st, 2007 via e-mail. All invited acts will receive a 20-40 minute slot during the festival.
